MyTy turns 3! Here’s What Two Pandemic Toddler Boys Love
Procreation is a journey that is unique for everyone. I had no idea that I would grow up and decide to visit the sperm bank in my early 30s and go on to have twin boys after three long rounds of in vitro fertilization, all on my own. Fast forward from the first day that I walked into the Johns Hopkins Greenspring Valley Fertility Clinic seven years ago to now and my boys are turning three years old! I blink my eyes a million times a day when I look at them to try and snap out of this dream I must be living, but I’m still here to tell anyone suffering from fertility issues or “no partner in sight” problems, that DREAMS DO COME TRUE.
My dream came true, times two! Myles was born hollering at 10:45 and Tyson, 3 minutes later, barely made a peep when he entered the world at 10:48 pm on January 25, 2019. Since then we’ve been rocking out just about every day, all day together. There was about one month before the pandemic started that Myles and Tyson went to daycare, but other than that they are pandemic-bred kids who are stuck at home with their Digital Communications Specialist mom. Here are things that the twins we call “MyTy” have learned to love during the pandemic life.

Disney Jr.
The television must be on and it must be on Disney Jr. They watch all of the shows and act them out–Bluey, Spidey & His Amazing Friends, Chicken Squad, Doc McStuffins & Muppet Babies. We all love to sing the theme songs when they come on. Check out our Disney Jr. playlist here.
Amazon Tablet
The Amazon tablet is Tyson’s thing but there are times when Myles wants to play on his tablet too. I love to see what they decide to do on their tablets. A lot of times Myles is looking over Tyson’s shoulder while he plays his games–Sonic, Spiderman or watches the Cuckoo Bears on YouTube. Myles likes matching games, drawing and he likes watching fidget spinner videos, but he may need some help finding them.
Lullabies
We LOVE the Calm app because there are a ton of bedtime stories with soft tunes, visuals and lullabies to help set the mood for sleep. I’ve invested in a subscription and it’s so worth it. We also find lullabies on iHeart radio on television or YouTube. Below is MyTy’s favorite lullaby. It’s so cute to watch them get comfortable and snuggle in the bed as soon as this comes on because that’s what Mickey Mouse is doing–they love to act out the cartoons lol.
Food
Believe it or not, Myles, the slimmest twin, is the big eater out of the two. He loves an overflowing bowl of Cheerios, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and mango. Tyson, on the other hand, wants “da nilk” (milk lol) all day long and he’d love to have popcorn, crackers or chips to go with it. Both boys love oatmeal, cheerios, chicken nuggets, salmon, ribs, chicken, french fries, apple sauce, pretzels, crackers and wheat chex.
Toys
Myles loves to play with his toys and Tyson loves to throw all of the toys. You can imagine the frustration in our house every day! Myles spends the most time with his Legos, activity books and puzzles. Tyson enjoys playing catch with a ball and both boys whip around the house on their bikes at least once in the morning and after dinner.

Books
Myles and Tyson both enjoy reading books with pictures of animals, shapes, objects and sounds they can recognize. They’ve got a healthy collection of Usborne books and books about Black culture. Check out a few favorites here.
